Connecting river, trails, and towns along the Susquehanna
Our Mission: The Susquehanna Greenway Partnership (SGP) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to completing the Susquehanna Greenway—a connected corridor of trails, boat launches, conserved lands, and river towns along the Susquehanna River in Pennsylvania. SGP works hand‑in‑hand with local, state, and national partners to expand this “green ribbon” of parks and trails, and to create resources that open the outdoors to everyone.
SGP envisions a vibrant Greenway that weaves together communities, trails, and natural spaces, transforming the river corridor into a place where adventure beckons, connections deepen, and the river’s beauty inspires.
From a new boat launch in a small borough to a multi‑county trail segment with sweeping vistas, the Susquehanna Greenway Partnership is the connective tissue that turns individual efforts into a coherent, growing Greenway—linking nature, recreation, and community life along one of the longest rivers on the East Coast.
Flagship programs:
Trails - Land & Water: SGP’s Trails Program helps plan, map, and promote both land and water routes along the river. Learn more about Land Trails here | Learn more about Water Trails here
River Towns Program: from small access improvements to multi‑mile trail segments, the River Towns Program is how many communities turn ideas into shovel‑ready projects and, eventually, places people can actually use and enjoy. Learn more here
Education & Outreach: SGP’s Education & Outreach work is all about helping people experience the Greenway firsthand through events and guided outings; maps, guides, and itineraries; and storytelling and resources. Learn more here
Community & Regional impact:
The Susquehanna Greenway Partnership is the only nonprofit specifically tasked with implementing the Greenway vision across the entire Pennsylvania reach of the river. Working with state agencies, conservation organizations, counties, and local governments, SGP:
Coordinates and supports projects that grow the network of parks, conserved lands, trails, and river access sites along hundreds of miles of river corridor.
Helps river towns leverage the Susquehanna as an asset for health, tourism, and quality of life, turning underused riverfronts into places where people want to live, work, and explore.
Provides the tools and expertise that smaller communities often lack on their own, making large‑scale outdoor projects feasible and sustainable.
