The Exchange
Bloomsburg, PA
Bringing the arts to all communities in the central Susquehanna Valley
Our Mission: A 501(c)(3) nonprofit, The Exchange is dedicated to bringing the arts to all communities throughout our region—supporting creators of all ages and experience levels, and making art, music, and culture accessible in everyday life.
Whether you’re viewing a student’s first painting in a gallery show, hearing touring musicians in a 40‑seat Listening Room, making a collage in a nursing home common area, or wandering ArtFest’s booths on a summer afternoon, The Exchange makes it clear that in this part of the Susquehanna Valley, the arts are for everyone—and they belong in every community.
Flagship programs:
The Exchange Gallery: provides a welcoming venue for regional artists of all ages and levels of experience, emphasizing inclusion over gatekeeping. Learn more here
The Art Cart: a mobile art program that takes hands‑on creativity into the community at no cost to participants. Learn more here
ArtFest: a one‑day outdoor festival that fills downtown Bloomsburg’s Square and Market Street with, dozens of regional artists and craft vendors, live music and performers, food trucks and local food vendors, and family‑friendly creative activities. Learn more here
Listening Room & live music: intimate shows featuring blues, roots, and other genres where audiences sit just a few feet from the performers. Learn more here
Community impact:
Since emerging from the former “Moose Exchange” arts center project, The Exchange has become a key connector in the central Susquehanna Valley’s cultural ecosystem. With one full‑time staff member, a small part‑time team, and a strong circle of volunteers (artists, musicians, donors, and neighbors) it:
Provides consistent exhibition opportunities for regional artists, including those just starting out
Brings creative experiences directly into schools, care facilities, and community spaces through the Art Cart
Animates downtown Bloomsburg with festivals, concerts, and partnerships that support local businesses
Offers a digital infrastructure (ArtOfPA.org) that helps audiences find, and organizations promote, arts events across multiple river towns
